This blog post by Ian Pearson shows what Old Timey religions are up against: a world changing so rapidly that life a few decades out is unimaginable. Let’s remember that there were still people living in New Guinea who had never seen anything made of metal, at the time that Neil Armstrong was walking on the moon. Radically different cultures can exist on the same planet… but not indefinitely.
